THE 2011 RIDE IS IN THE BOOKS!
The morning weather challenged us and our riders. About 2/3's of our distance riders braved the weather and came out for the event. Almost every last Fun Ride participant showed up for the 10:30 Family Fun Ride with Ronald. By 9:00, the weather had cleared and our riders were in for a fantastic day with temperatures down and excited volunteers ready to serve them at the rest stops, the lunch stop and back at the start/finish. If you missed it, we totally understand with the weather but boy did you miss a great day!
Our first Gran Fondo race was amazing with Stefan Adams edging out Jim Thompson by about the amount of time it took Jim to change a flat! For full Fondo results, check the UltraMax timing results.
So how'd we do? Well, as of this writing, year 2 set new highs for total revenue and riders. In our first year, we had 341 registered riders and $155,800 in total revenues. While the revenue numbers will continue to grow over the next couple of weeks as riders complete their fundraising collections, 2011 brought us over 400 registered riders and $166,000 raised to support the St. Louis RMHC (to date). Many thanks to our many sponsors, committee, riders and volunteers.
Our 2012 ride location and date will be announced later this year.
WHAT'S IN STORE!
"So we'll ride a long way to help families we don't even know, but what's in it for us, besides our donation and lots of hard work?"
This event has been well sponsored by "In kind sponsors"! What's that mean?
It means you will enjoy Herbies and Monarch restaurant cuisine and abundant, free, AB products at the finish. Awesome Lone Wolf Coffee Company wraps at the Edwardsville High School lunch stop. Bananas, oranges, sandwich quarters and other fuels, Powerade and Disani water on the route at our 9 rest stops. 2 live bands playing from 1:00 until 5:00, face painting, bounce house, gaming center, fitness village, 5 bike shops providing bicycle maintenance services along the route and at start/finish. Finisher's medals for all, and special awards for fondo ride winners. There's more, but you'll have to show up to get the entire list! My fingers are tired from typing!

The pictures are free to download or you can pay for prints through the site they are posted on. (Note: All proceeds from printing go to the site, not to Ronald McDonald House Charities).
