ABOUT RMHC
St. Louis' three Ronald McDonald Houses serve as a "home-away-from-home" for families with seriously-ill children being treated at area hospitals. The Houses are designed to provide these families with a comfortable bed, a warm meal, kitchen and laundry facilities, and toys to occupy the kids.
Ronald McDonald House Charities also serves St. Louis families at three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms inside local hospitals. These rooms provide many of the same comforts of the Ronald McDonald House such as hot showers, laundry facilities, snacks and television. Here, families can take a break from the hustle and bustle of hospital corridors.
ABOUT THE RMHC RIDE
2010 was the year of the inaugural bike riding event for the RMHC Charities of Metro St. Louis.
What we wanted to do through this event is provide a different charity cycling experience. We first and foremost wanted to get this event accomplished in the St. Louis Metro Area, a difficult feat with so many municipalities and stop lights to contend with.
Second, we wanted to be inclusive. While we would certainly offer a long ride for experience riders, we also wanted to include families and kids that wanted to participate. We also needed to ensure the route was reasonably flat and safe, to accommodate the varied skill and fitness levels of participants.
And finally, we wanted to produce an event that could be accomplished in a single day, and provide a party atmosphere for participants and spectators alike at the start/finish village.
We think you will agree, we've accomplished all of these goals with our first event! But there is only one way to know for sure. You need to register and join us in 2011!
This ride will include:
- Start/Finish festivities & refreshments @ Steinberg Ice Rink, Forest Park
- Bike Shop and Fitness Village at the Start/Finish
- Lunch stop for the Metric Century and Century Rides at Edwardsville High School
- Bicycle Shop Support at all rest stops and start finish
- Medical and SAG support (at appropriate cross roads to the trails)
Participant awards will include:
- Finisher prize for all kids finishing the Forest Park Fun Ride with Ronald
- Finisher medals for the Half Metric Century, Metric Century and Full Century Riders
- RMHC Ride Technical T-Shirt to all 3 distance ride participants
Fundraising Awards will include:
- RMHC Ride Jersey to $500 Fundraisers
- High Quality road bike shorts for $1000 Fundraisers
- $250 Bike Shop Voucher for $2500 Fundraisers
